About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead and manage Floating Solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects across India. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in solar power project execution, with specific exposure to floating solar (FPV) installations on reservoirs, lakes, and water bodies. This role demands strong technical acumen in electrical systems, project planning, stakeholder management, and on-site execution in challenging aquatic environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
• Lead end-to-end EPC execution of floating solar projects from kick-off to commissioning, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality parameters.
• Develop detailed project execution plans (PEP), work breakdown structures (WBS), and master schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
• Oversee civil, mechanical, electrical, and floating structure installation works, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of floating platforms, mooring systems, PV modules, inverters, and HT/LT electrical systems.
Technical & Engineering Oversight
• Review and approve electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), cable routing layouts, earthing and lightning protection designs for floating solar arrays.
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards, BIS codes, CEA regulations, state EV policies, and environmental clearances for water-body-based installations.
• Supervise DC cabling, AC power evacuation, transformer installation, switchyard works, and grid synchronization activities.
• Conduct risk assessments for water-based construction, including safety protocols for divers, floating platforms, and marine equipment.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
• Manage relationships with DISCOMs, state nodal agencies, CEI/SEI authorities, and local administrative bodies for timely approvals and clearances.
• Lead negotiations and contract management with EPC subcontractors, floating platform suppliers, module manufacturers, and BoS vendors.
• Ensure timely procurement of long-lead items such as floating platforms, inverters, transformers, and cables to avoid schedule slippage.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Enforce strict HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards across all project sites, including water-body-specific safety measures.
• Conduct regular quality audits, inspections, and testing of electrical systems (IR tests, continuity, polarity, torque, and commissioning tests).
• Ensure statutory compliance with labour laws, environmental norms, and local body regulations across all project locations.
Financial & Commercial Management
• Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and cost control measures; approve site expenditures and variation orders within delegated authority.
• Prepare monthly progress reports (S-curves, milestone tracking, productivity analysis) for senior management and client review.
• Support project billing, milestone certification, and final account closure with clients and subcontractors.
Qualifications & Experience
• B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
• 12 to 15 years of total experience, with at least 5+ years in solar EPC project management, preferably including floating solar (FPV) projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering utility-scale solar projects (ground-mounted, rooftop, or floating) exceeding 10 MW capacity.
• Hands-on experience with electrical system design review, HT/LT installation, substation works, and grid interconnection.
• Familiarity with floating solar technologies (HDPE platforms, mooring systems, float suppliers) is highly preferred.
Desired Skills & Competencies
• Proficiency in project management tools: Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD (basic review), and MS Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of solar PV system design, DC/AC cabling, inverter integration, SCADA, and power evacuation infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Indian electrical standards: IS 3043, IS 732, CEA grid connectivity regulations, and state-specific solar policies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to manage multi-location teams and diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India and be stationed at project sites as required.
